What a year for books. I read so many amazing books with year but I have narrowed it down to my favorite books of 2016. (These are in no particular order) Helen Hardt - (Steel Brothers Series) Craving, Obsession, Possession, and Melt. (Burn and Surrender to come in 2017) The Steel brothers are some of my favorite brothers to read about. The first three books concentrate on Talon and Jade. Talon lived thru a horrible event as a child and Jade is determined to help him cope with what happened to him. It is not an easy road for them and their story continues in the 4th book, which is mainly about Jonah and Melanie. I absolutely love this series and cannot wait for the next two books to come out!! Craving: After being left at the altar, Jade Roberts seeks solace at her best friend's ranch on the Colorado western slope. Her humiliation still ripe, she doesn't expect to be attracted to her friend's reticent brother, but when the gorgeous cowboy kisses her, all bets are off. Talon Steel is broken. Having never fully healed from a horrific childhood trauma, he simply exists, taking from women what is offered and giving nothing in return...until Jade Roberts catapults into his life. She is beautiful, sweet, and giving, and his desire for her becomes a craving he fears he'll never be able to satisfy. Passion sizzles between the two lovers...but long-buried secrets haunt them both and may eventually tear them apart. Obsession: Jade Roberts is in love with Talon Steel but no longer welcome in his home. While she resolves to move on, she still longs for the passion she and Talon shared...and when her boss asks her to dig up information on the Steels, she's only too happy to comply. Talon and his brothers are hiding something, and Jade is determined to find out what it is. The moment Talon saw Jade he wanted her, ached for her, craved her...and now his desire has become his obsession. He knows she deserves better than his broken soul, but he can't stay away from her, and he finally confesses his love. If he and Jade are to have a future, he knows he must make peace with the dark shadows and horrors of his past. But as Talon begins his journey of healing, Jade uncovers some startling secrets... Possession: Jade Roberts’s love for Talon Steel is the real deal, and she’s more determined than ever to help him come to grips with whatever is haunting him. To that end, she continues her investigation of the Steels…and unknowingly attracts some dangerous foes from their shrouded history. Talon loves Jade deeply and longs to possess her forever, so he faces his worst fears and exposes his rawest wounds in an attempt to heal. The road is icy and treacherous, but if he perseveres and comes out whole on the other side, he’ll finally be worthy of Jade’s love. The untamed passion between the two still blazes, but as the horrors of Talon’s past resurface, Jade and Talon aren’t safe… Melt: Jonah Steel is intelligent, rich, and hard-working. As the oldest of his siblings, he was charged by his father to protect them. He failed in the worst way. Dr. Melanie Carmichael has her own baggage. Although the renowned therapist was able to help Jonah’s brother, she is struggling with feelings of inadequacy. When the oldest Steel walks into her office seeking solace, she can’t turn her back. As Melanie and Jonah attempt to work through their issues together, desperately trying to ignore the desire brewing between them, ghosts from both their pasts surface…and danger draws near. J.L. Drake - (Blackstone Series) Honor and Escape Honor and Escape are spin off books of the Broken trilogy by J.L. Drake. I loved that series so when I saw that a new Blackstone Series was coming out, I was so excited, and I was not disappointed. I loved learning more about the Blackstone men and their stories. Honor: Bullets fly during a dangerous mission, and Major Mark Lopez is critically injured… A Blackstone soldier, Mark is transferred to the North Dakota hospital with the security clearance to treat members of the elite covert team. The pretty new nurse assigned to his case knows her stuff, but Mark soon discovers she knows more than just how to save lives. Mia Harper knows the Blackstone Code. Mia is a bit of gypsy and doesn’t engage much with people—but there’s something about her mysterious new patient… After Mark recovers from surgery, he is discharged from the hospital with orders to rest. Not that he does. Instead he rushes to México for the team’s next assignment. But when he returns to the hospital again and again with minor—and not so minor—injuries, Mia suspects he’s only coming to see her. Romance ignites, and because Mia signed a non-disclosure agreement at the hospital, Mark is able to open up more with Mia than any other woman. Some debts demand payment in either cash or blood… When someone from Mark’s past comes to him for help, old secrets start to resurface, and more blood is shed. Worlds collide and lies are exposed in an all-or-nothing underground poker game. Mark must put his life on the line to keep Mia safe…and to finally learn the answer to the question that’s haunted him his whole life. What really happened that night twenty-five years ago? Escape: One decision will haunt Blackstone soldier Keith for a lifetime… Keith left behind the feisty love of his life, Lexi Klein, ten years ago when he chose to become a soldier and leave for Iraq, but after a tragedy struck Lexi’s family and Keith couldn’t come home, she felt abandoned. When Keith finally managed to make it back to Boston, Lexi had completely withdrawn from everyone, including him. She decides to end their relationship and move on. Lexi has always owned Keith’s heart. He just didn’t know how much… Keith returns to Boston years later for a wedding and finds out Lexi is dating the leader of the infamous Almas Perdidas Gang. Lexi is in over her head, and Keith will stop at nothing to keep her safe. Having never recovered from her broken heart, Lexi wants no part of his grand savior routine. She made her choice, and she has her own reasons to stick to her guns about it. Keith fights to regain Lexi’s trust, but old wounds are slow to heal… After Lexi is beaten for not following gang rules, Keith decides to take her on a trip to convince her once and for all to let him back in. But Lexi is holding on to one last secret, and it will change everything. Happiness comes at a price, and once the front Lexi put up comes crashing down, that price will be paid in blood. Keith must make a decision. Does his loyalty lie with the military? Or with the woman he loves? Or has too much time and history been lost for them to make one…final… Escape. Jessica Gouin - Six Years Gone Jessica Gouin is a new author to me but I am so glad that I found her. SIx Years Gone was amazing. I was not sure what I was getting myself into when I started this book, but I loved it. It is not your typical happily-ever-after book and when i got to the end of the book, all i could say was WOW!! Six Years Gone: Forget everything you know about happily-ever-afters… Sawyer, tattooed and rebellious, intended to stay numb until graduation. Lachlan, gorgeous and charming, was the master of his charmed life. He had never been more captivated or terrified. She never saw him coming. Six weeks was all it took to fall in love. Then he was gone… Six years later their lives collide again. Can forgiveness and faith restore what was broken in those years of absence? Or will the dark secrets buried inside one another destroy their second chance at love? What happens when the one who ruined you is woven into your soul? How can dreams appear to come true only to twist into nightmares? Though they ache for the happy ending to their fairytale, fate may have something else planned. Rebecca Brooke - House Rules House Rules is connected to Rebecca Brooke's book Traded but it is about different people in different situatons. I loved the story line of this book. Sometimes bad decisions can turn out to be good decisions. House Rules: I stuck my **** in a different woman every night. They lined up, pawing at me. All of them wanting to be part of the bad boy prestige that was Miller Hawes. Then they flipped the river… And she was mine. Sexy, compelling and the first woman who didn’t fall at my feet. Why can’t I get her out of my head? I need to focus on taking over the family business. Except all my attention is on one thing and one thing only. Tess Colleen Hoover - It Ends With Us This was my first Colleen Hoover book and it will not be my last. This book was amazing and I am so glad I found this author. It Ends With Us tells such a heart-felt story. This book talks about issues that can be hard to talk about but they are issues that need to be discussed (abuse). This book left me with a book hangover for days. It Ends With Us: SOMETIMES THE ONE WHO LOVES YOU IS THE ONE WHO HURTS YOU THE MOST Lily hasn't always had it easy, but that's never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She's come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up - she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily's life suddenly seems almost too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, and maybe even a little arrogant. He's also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily, but Ryle's complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan - her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened. Callie Hart - Between Here and the Horizon This has to be my favorite Callie Hart book to date. I feel in love with this book and the characters in it. This book had so many twists and turns that I had no clue where the next chapter was going to go. This book made and laugh and cry and then cry some more but the tears were worth it. AMAZING READ!!!!!! Between Here and the Horizon: “You think you know me. You think you want to know me. But trust me, Miss Lang. Pursuing me will be the worst mistake you ever make. I’m broken beyond repair… …and I take great pleasure in breaking everyone else around me.” Ophelia Lang needs money, and she needs it bad. Her parent’s restaurant is going under, and ever since she lost her job teaching third grade elementary, scraping enough cash together to pay the bills has proven almost impossible. Her parents are on the brink of losing their home. The vultures are circling overhead. So when Ophelia is offered an interview for a well-paid private tutoring gig in New York, how can she possibly say no? Ronan Fletcher is far from the overweight, balding businessman Ophelia expected him to be. He’s young, handsome, and wealthy beyond all reason. He’s also perhaps the coldest, rudest person she’s ever met, and has a mean streak in him a mile and a half wide. A hundred grand is a lot of money, however, and if tolerating his frosty temperament, his erratic mood swings and whatever else he throws at her means she’ll get paid, then that is what Ophelia will do. Her new boss is keeping secrets, though. Awful, terrible secrets. The ghosts of Ronan Fletcher’s past are about to turn Ophelia’s future upside down, and she can’t even see it coming. Adriana Locke -Written in the Scars You will fall in love with Elin and Ty. Their story is so touching and honest and it will tug at your heart strings. Written in the Scars: Falling in love is easy. Falling out of love is the hardest thing in the world. And Elin and Ty Whitt are terrible at it. The first time the local basketball star smiled at Elin, she was a goner. It was just so damn easy to fall for the dark-haired hometown hero with his charming smile and strong, athletic build. Thousands of sleepy smiles, aimless drives down country roads, and squeaks of the backdoor after a swing shift later, reality hits. And it hits hard. Falling in love was definitely the easy part. Watching it break apart was impossible. Through the tears, the second-guesses, the memories of a life built together, the world keeps spinning. With each turn comes clarity and hope—sometimes in the form of a pair of muddy boots by the back door or from the words of a wise friend. When Ty shows back up with a new found determination to put his family back together, Elin's torn between the fights of the past and the possibility of a new start. This is the man that holds her heart, the man she loves beyond anything else. But this is also the one person in the world that can cause her the most pain. Life’s not always easy. Love’s not for the faint of heart. But with life comes lessons and Ty and Elin have the scars to prove it. But it's their love written in those scars that will hold them together … or break them apart Kandi Steiner - Weightless What an amazing story. I think all young adult women should read this book. There are so many different elements in this book that everyone can relate to at least one of them. This was a great read in 2016! Weightless: I remember the lights. I remember I wanted to photograph them, the way the red and blue splashed across his cold, emotionless face. But I knew even if my feet could move from the place where they had cemented themselves to the ground and I could run for my camera, I wouldn’t be able to capture that moment. I had trusted him, I had loved him, and even though my body had changed that summer, he’d made sure to help me hold on to who I was inside, regardless of how the exterior altered. But then everything changed. He stole my innocence. He scarred my heart. He took everything I thought I knew about my life and fast-pitched it out the window, shattering the glass that held my world together in the process. I remember the lights. The passionate, desperate, hot strikes of red. The harsh, cruel, icy bolts of blue. They symbolized everything I endured that summer. And everything I would never face again. Riley Mackenzie - Abruption
What a story! This book touched by heart in so many ways. Being a single parent is hard, especially when your child has special needs. Sometimes the help you need to survive comes at the perfect time. Abruption: Everyone has a plan. Dr. Guy Hunter secures his dream fellowship with a beautiful free spirit by his side. Two unexpected blue lines don’t even shake his resolve—he is on his way to having it all. Until he isn’t. Abruption: a sudden breaking off Jules Chiappetti loves her boisterous over-involved Italian family but is determined to pave her own way. An MBA and boardroom job is her ticket out. Until it isn’t. Abruption: an unexpected event Four years later, Guy is consumed by the challenges of being a single father, still struggling with the aftermath that derailed his life and left his son with special needs. He doesn’t realize his world went dark the same day his wife’s did, until Jules, his son’s new nurse, shows him the light.

On this page I will be writing book reviews to books that I have read. Most of the books are either romance or mystery. Some of the books are for an age of 18+ and I will post that in my narrative about the book.
